Chichester District Youth Council

Getting your views

To properly represent young people we decided that we would need YOUR views on certain topics.

We designed a questionnaire and have received over 400 replies from young people in the District.

And the next step......we are setting up a range of projects and activities to make sure we do something about the issues you have raised with us.

Take a look at some of our past and present projects on this page.

Hammered! - a film for young people, by young people.

We wanted to do something about the issues of teenage drinking so we decided to make a film.  We included facts about how to deal with a drunk friend, when to dial 999, and what alcohol can do to your body.  We attended film workshops on how to use the camera and sound equipment and each of us took on the roles of cameramen, director, producer and sound.  Some of us acted in the film and some of us wrote the script.  We learnt loads, had lots of fun, and have now distributed the film to all secondary schools in the district with a special "teachers pack" to go with it.

Learning how to use camera Planning and writing the script
Dressing up for silly shots! Filming at the ambulance station
Getting the sound right! Drunk again! Great acting skills

Meeting the Mayor

No - that's not the Mayor!  Just one of our youth councillors trying on the mayoral robes for size!

Youth councillors were invited to meet the Mayor, and find out more about what he does for the Chichester area.
